Gender Inclusion & Safeguarding Assistant Coordinator

About the role

The Gender Inclusion & Safeguarding Assistant Coordinator will support Restless Development Uganda’s youth employment portfolio by ensuring gender‑responsive programming and safeguarding standards across multiple districts. Working from Kampala, the coordinator will collaborate with youth‑led organisations, local partners and internal teams to embed gender inclusion and child protection into all project activities.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in designing, implementing and monitoring gender inclusion strategies within the youth employment programme.
• Support the safeguarding team to ensure compliance with Restless Development’s safeguarding policy and national regulations.
• Coordinate data collection, reporting and analysis on gender and safeguarding indicators.
• Facilitate capacity‑building workshops for youth‑led organisations on gender‑sensitive approaches and safeguarding best practices.
• Provide logistical and administrative support for community outreach, trainings and stakeholder meetings.
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to programme documentation and learning.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary education in gender studies, social sciences, development studies or a related field.
• Experience working on gender inclusion, safeguarding or youth‑focused programmes in low‑resource settings.
• Strong understanding of child protection principles and gender‑responsive programming.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of local languages is an advantage.
