General Ledger Financial Supervisor

About the role

The General Ledger Financial Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all General Ledger activities, ensuring accurate and timely financial records, and supporting strategic decision‑making through robust reporting and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise journal entry preparation, reconciliations and month/quarter/year‑end closing processes.
• Prepare and review financial statements in line with IFRS and Ugandan statutory requirements.
• Coordinate with external auditors and tax agents, and ensure timely filing of VAT, Withholding Tax, NSSF, PAYE and other statutory returns.
• Lead and develop the finance team, allocate tasks, conduct performance reviews and foster continuous improvement.
• Strengthen internal controls, maintain audit trails and safeguard the chart of accounts.
• Approve bank reconciliations, resolve discrepancies and perform profitability, P&L and variance analyses.
• Present financial reports with insights and recommendations to senior management.

Required profile

• Proven experience supervising General Ledger functions and month‑end closing.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, Uganda Companies Act 2012 and Accountants Act 2013.
• Experience managing a finance team and coordinating external audits.
• Ability to ensure compliance with tax and statutory obligations.
