General Manager – Construction Operations

About the role

The General Manager will provide strategic leadership and overall management of the company's construction operations in Uganda. This senior role oversees project execution, engineering, commercial activities, finance, procurement, business development, human resources, and corporate governance to ensure successful delivery of projects and sustainable growth.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the company's strategic plans, business objectives, and operational goals.
• Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of all construction projects, ensuring safety, timeliness, budget compliance, and quality standards.
• Monitor project schedules, productivity, budgets, and resource utilization; take corrective actions as needed.
• Oversee annual budgeting, financial forecasting, and profitability targets; approve major expenditures and contracts.
• Drive business development initiatives, identify new opportunities, and manage tender preparation, bidding, and contract negotiations.
• Maintain strong relationships with government institutions, private clients, and industry partners.
• Report business performance to the Board of Directors and executive management.

Required profile

• Extensive senior leadership experience in construction, infrastructure, or related sectors.
• Proven track record of delivering large‑scale projects on time and within budget.
• Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets, forecasts, and profitability.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic business plans.
• Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
