Health Specialist – Uganda (Full‑time)

About the role

The Health Specialist will strengthen the quality, relevance and impact of Suyana Foundation’s health programmes in Uganda. Working under the Regional Programmes Manager Africa and closely with the Uganda Country Coordinator, the role combines programme design, field support, capacity building, monitoring, learning and stakeholder engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Support partner organisations to design, implement and continuously improve health interventions aligned with national priorities and Suyana’s integrated development approach.
• Provide regular field visits to project sites across Uganda and occasional trips to Rwanda, ensuring recommendations are grounded in local realities.
• Lead monitoring, evaluation and learning activities, including data collection, analysis and reporting.
• Develop proposals, technical documents and reports for donors and internal stakeholders.
• Facilitate capacity‑strengthening workshops for community health actors, health facilities and local authorities.
• Contribute to regional learning by sharing best practices and lessons learned across Suyana’s African programmes.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years (84 months) of experience in public health programme implementation, preferably in East Africa.
• Senior‑level professional with a proven track record of working with NGOs, local partners and government agencies.
• Right to work in Uganda or ability to obtain necessary work authorization.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills, with experience in MEL frameworks.
