Import/Export Operations Specialist

About the role

Join DHL Global Forwarding in Kampala as an Import/Export Operations Specialist. You will manage end‑to‑end import and export processes, ensuring smooth shipment movement and high‑quality customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and maintain relationships with existing customers.
• Handle customer complaints and enquiries, escalating when necessary.
• Update clients during onboarding and throughout the shipment lifecycle.
• Support the Head of Products with system updates and upgrades in CW1.
• Arrange shipment movement from pick‑up to delivery, booking carriers and updating CW1 remarks.
• Share documentation with the CDZ team for customs clearance and prepare customs entries.
• Complete export documents, perform quality checks, and process MBL/HBL according to procedures.
• Monitor shipments, send pre‑alerts, bill and close shipments in CW1.
• Upload all shipping documents into the CW1 e‑Doc system and keep milestones up to date.
• Resolve any outstanding files and follow up with customers for feedback.

Required profile

• Knowledge of OFR/RFR products for import and export.
• Strong negotiation and communication abilities.
• Result‑oriented with high accuracy and timeliness.
• Understanding of customs regulations.
• Proficiency with MS Office tools.
• 3‑5 years of related experience.
• University degree; EAFFPC certificate is a plus.
