Intermediate Support Engineer (SHIFT)

About the role

GitLab is looking for an Intermediate Support Engineer to work 8‑hour shifts (four weekdays and one weekend day). You will sit at the intersection of Support and Engineering, helping Self‑managed and GitLab.com customers solve complex issues while contributing directly to product code and documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Troubleshoot Linux performance problems, using tools such as strace to diagnose process behavior.
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to reproduce bugs and deliver fixes via merge requests.
• Develop internal utilities, for example an Omnibus health‑check tool, server‑state capture scripts, log‑to‑table converters, and ChatOps integrations.
• Provide timely support for both self‑managed and SaaS customers through the issue tracker.
• Improve support documentation and streamline issue‑tracking processes.

Required profile

• 2+ years of experience in technical support or engineering roles.
• Strong Linux administration background.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts that include a weekend day.
• Effective communication with customers and cross‑functional teams.
• Proactive attitude toward problem solving and process improvement.
