Internal Auditor

About the role

The Internal Auditor will support Standard Bank Group by executing audit assignments across business units, ensuring robust risk management and compliance with regulatory standards. This role requires a solid understanding of banking operations, controls, and governance processes.

Key responsibilities

• Execute business audit assignments using GIA methodology, assessing design and operating effectiveness of controls.
• Build relationships with internal stakeholders to understand processes, risks, and strategic objectives.
• Develop risk‑based audit scopes through walkthroughs, documentation reviews and stakeholder engagement.
• Identify root causes of control weaknesses and recommend practical remedial actions.
• Contribute to risk assessments covering operational, financial, compliance, conduct and strategic risks.
• Provide advisory insights to improve business processes, operational efficiency and control effectiveness.

Required profile

• First degree in Accounting, Finance, Audit, Business Administration, Economics, Commerce or related field.
• Professional qualification such as ACCA or CPA is an advantage.
• 3‑4 years of experience in internal audit, external audit, risk management, finance or banking.
