Line Boring Technician – Heavy Equipment (M/F)

About the role

The Line Boring Technician performs on‑site precision machining to repair and restore worn or damaged cylindrical bores in heavy construction and earth‑moving equipment. Working directly at construction or mining sites, the technician ensures repaired components meet OEM specifications, reducing downtime and avoiding extensive dismantling.

Key responsibilities

• Operate portable hydraulic or electric line boring machines to repair bores on excavators, wheel loaders, dump trucks and similar equipment.
• Conduct bore welding and related machining processes to restore damaged bores to original specifications.
• Set up, align and calibrate line boring equipment using micrometers, bore gauges, dial indicators and laser alignment tools.
• Interpret technical drawings, equipment manuals and specifications to determine machining requirements.
• Perform journal turning, flange facing and other precision machining tasks as needed.
• Maintain and inspect line boring tools and accessories to ensure operational readiness.
• Collaborate with mechanics, welders and maintenance teams to coordinate repair activities.
• Prepare technical reports and documentation for completed repairs while adhering to HSE and safety standards.

Required profile

• Diploma or Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Machining, Heavy Equipment Maintenance or a related technical field.
• Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience in line boring, machining or heavy equipment maintenance.
• Proven experience with portable line boring machines and welding equipment in construction, mining or heavy‑industry environments.
• Ability to work independently in remote or field settings with a strong commitment to safety and quality.
