Market Research Assistant – Business Intelligence (Contract)

About the role

MTN Uganda is seeking a Market Research Assistant to support its Business Intelligence team. The role involves conducting telephone and face‑to‑face interviews, compiling research reports and assisting with data analysis to inform strategic decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct and record telephone or face‑to‑face interviews following a predefined protocol.
• Maintain accurate interview records while safeguarding respondent confidentiality.
• Summarize interview findings and develop interview schedules.
• Contact sampled respondents, introduce research objectives and arrange interview logistics.
• Review and edit collected data to ensure completeness and accuracy, following up with respondents as needed.
• Develop materials and methods for data collection and analysis when requested.
• Research market trends using credible sources and compile research documents.
• Perform miscellaneous job‑related duties assigned by the team leader.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Social Sciences, Statistics or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years experience in a call‑centre environment.
• Fluency in the required local languages (Runyakore, Rukiga, Rutoro, Runyoro, Lugbara).
• Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint.
• Data analysis capability.
• Familiarity with telecommunications industry trends.
• Basic technical knowledge of handsets and connectivity.
