MEAL Officer

About the role

The Danish Refugee Council is seeking two qualified MEAL Officers to lead the Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) system for its Food Systems and Economic Self‑Reliance project in Uganda. The role ensures systematic data collection, analysis, reporting and learning to support evidence‑based decision‑making and donor compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and maintain the project MEAL framework, indicators, tools and reporting systems.
• Conduct field monitoring, spot checks, assessments and outcome monitoring, verifying partner‑reported results against source documents.
• Lead the design, deployment and management of digital data collection tools, ensuring data quality, accuracy and completeness.
• Maintain indicator tracking systems, prepare dashboards and performance summaries, and analyse trends to inform programme adjustments.
• Coordinate feedback and complaints mechanisms, document lessons learned and support adaptive management.
• Provide technical MEAL support to private‑sector partners and implementing actors on indicator definitions, data collection, reporting and data quality.

Required profile

• Highly motivated individual with experience in MEAL functions within humanitarian or development projects.
• Demonstrated ability to work with implementing partners and support them in data collection and reporting.
• Strong analytical mindset and capacity to translate monitoring findings into actionable recommendations.
