Middle School Boys Basketball Coach

About the role

The Middle School Boys Basketball Coach implements the district, board and OSAA policies to run the boys basketball program. Working with other coaches and staff, the coach conducts practices, motivates athletes, teaches game strategies and techniques, and promotes fair play and a love of sport.

Key responsibilities

• Follow Board of Education, district, OSAA and league policies.
• Attend all meetings scheduled by administration, the athletic director and the league.
• Maintain student eligibility forms, emergency data cards and related records.
• Organize and direct practice activities and develop game strategy.
• Assess player skills and provide active supervision during games, practices, locker rooms and transportation.
• Enforce firm, fair and consistent discipline; report serious infractions promptly.
• Model and promote good sportsmanship and a competitive attitude.
• Emphasize academic achievement of student‑athletes.
• Complete injury reports within 24 hours of any incident.
• Foster positive school‑community relations and publicize the sport to encourage participation.
• Ensure proper use, care and management of facilities.
