Postdoctoral Fellow – Nutrition Research

About the role

The World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to lead nutrition‑focused research within its natural resource management programmes. The role involves providing scientific guidance, developing research concepts, and contributing to high‑impact publications.

Key responsibilities

• Provide scientific guidance ensuring research methods meet the highest standards.
• Collaborate with theme coordinators to define and implement emerging research activities.
• Write, supervise and disseminate scientific publications and communications.
• Lead capacity‑building initiatives and mentor junior scientists, students and staff.
• Represent CIFOR in national, regional and global forums on forest governance.
• Develop and maintain partnerships with stakeholders and donors.
• Identify and secure additional research funding.
• Plan, monitor and report on research activities, including budgeting and donor reporting.

Required profile

• PhD in a relevant discipline (e.g., nutrition, natural resource management, social sciences).
• Experience in collaborative natural‑resource or social‑science research, including fieldwork in developing countries.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects, budgets and deliver on financial objectives.
• Strong publication record in peer‑reviewed journals.
• Demonstrated success in fundraising, proposal development and donor reporting.
• Fluent spoken and written English; additional international language(s) an advantage.
• Experience working with multidisciplinary, multicultural teams and multiple partners.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
