Principal HSES Specialist

About the role

The Principal HSES Specialist will lead the development and implementation of health, safety, environment and security (HSES) programs for McDermott projects. Working independently, the specialist solves complex HSES challenges and guides cross‑functional teams to ensure compliance with corporate, legislative and client requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain the HSE Management System aligned with corporate and regulatory standards.
• Lead HSES risk‑management processes and establish effective mitigation controls.
• Prepare and execute internal and external HSES audits, ensuring compliance and continuous improvement.
• Manage subcontractor/vendor HSES pre‑qualification, bid evaluation and follow‑up actions.
• Define and monitor KPIs, analyse trends and report performance to senior management.
• Provide technical and commercial HSES support during tendering and contract phases.
• Lead incident investigations, root‑cause analysis and corrective‑action implementation.
• Develop training, awareness material and emergency procedures for project teams.
• Supervise HSES personnel, fostering competency development and professional growth.

Required profile

• Extensive expertise in HSES disciplines with a proven track record of solving complex safety challenges.
• Ability to work autonomously with minimal guidance and lead functional teams.
• Strong communication skills to interface with clients, contractors and senior management.
