Procurement & Logistics Officer

About the role

The Procurement & Logistics Officer at GS Group Uganda is responsible for managing end‑to‑end supply chain, procurement and materials activities for construction projects. Working across office administration and active building sites, the role ensures timely, cost‑effective sourcing and delivery of goods while complying with Ugandan procurement regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and update the vendor database, screen new suppliers and coordinate routine communication.
• Process purchase requisitions, issue purchase orders and follow up on delivery schedules for construction sites.
• Prepare tendering and bidding documents, compile supplier bids and produce comparison sheets.
• Track procurement expenditures against project budgets, verify invoices against POs and delivery notes, and identify cost‑saving opportunities.
• Monitor stock levels on site, coordinate local dispatch, prepare customs and freight forwarding documentation, and support fleet management data entry.
• Ensure all transactions comply with local procurement policies and that incoming materials meet quality specifications; escalate delays to senior management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Logistics, Administration, Accounting or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in construction procurement and logistics, including fleet management.
• Familiarity with Ugandan procurement rules and international project environments.

Required skills

• Proficiency with procurement software such as SAP, Oracle or Procore.
• Knowledge of clearing and freight forwarding processes.
• Strong supply‑chain management, cost estimation and budgeting abilities.
• Experience in contract administration, inventory control and vendor negotiation.
