About the role

The Faculty of Agriculture and Animal Sciences at Busitema University is seeking a Project Assistant (Insectary Attendant) to support the Biowaste Recycling Unit under the “Waste to Wealth” project funded by UNEP. The role involves assisting with insectary operations and contributing to the project’s goal of converting organic market waste into fertilizer and animal feed.

Key responsibilities

Support the activities of the Biowaste Recycling Unit, including waste processing and data collection.
Assist with insectary maintenance, insect rearing, and related laboratory tasks.

Required profile

Honours Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (or equivalent) from an accredited university; a Diploma in Agriculture is an advantage.
Minimum two years of work experience, preferably on donor‑funded projects.
Experience in technology dissemination and farmer training.
Business development experience in the NGO or private sector.
Age limit of 45 years and ability to start work immediately.

Required skills

Proficiency in computer applications.
Practical experience with insect rearing.
