Project Coordinator

About the role

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) in Uganda is seeking a Project Coordinator to lead the implementation of a Coca‑Cola Foundation‑funded initiative aimed at improving circularity in the plastic value chain. The role focuses on integrating marginalized waste collectors into formal systems, creating safer and decent jobs, and strengthening the circular economy across Kampala and the Southwestern regions.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee and coordinate all field‑level activities of the project, ensuring they meet contractual objectives and agreed targets.
• Lead collaboration with Ecoplastile, the local private‑sector partner, and maintain relationships with government agencies, NGOs, community leaders, and other recycling companies.
• Manage annual planning, budgeting, and reporting to the Head of Programme and DRC senior management.
• Facilitate joint progress review sessions with partners in Kenya and Uganda, adjusting implementation plans and budgets as needed.
• Represent DRC in public forums, technical working groups, and at settlement and national levels.
• Ensure compliance with DRC’s Code of Conduct and promote positive working relationships with all stakeholders.

Required profile

• Proven experience in managing and coordinating development or environmental projects, preferably in the waste‑management or circular‑economy sector.
• Strong ability to work across multiple regions and with diverse partners, including private‑sector entities and refugee communities.
• Excellent monitoring, reporting, and budgeting skills, with a focus on achieving measurable outcomes.
