Project Officer – Program Implementation (Kampala)

About the role

The Project Officer will join Catholic Relief Services' Uganda programming team to monitor, coordinate, and report on project activities that strengthen child protection, early childhood development, and family‑based care. Working closely with CRS staff, government partners, local NGOs, and community structures, the officer will help ensure high‑quality implementation and measurable impact for vulnerable populations.

Key responsibilities

• Support coordination and implementation of all assigned activities according to the detailed implementation plan, CRS quality standards, and donor requirements.
• Monitor progress, identify challenges or gaps, and recommend adjustments to schedules and plans.
• Assist partners in reflecting on project experiences and collecting data for evaluation.
• Coordinate project evaluation activities and help partners analyze data using specified tools.
• Prepare regular reports in collaboration with local partners, following the established reporting schedule.
• Identify staff capacity and technical assistance needs of partner organizations and monitor related capacity‑building activities.
• Document project activities, compile case studies, and highlight promising practices.

Required profile

• Strong written and spoken English.
• Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time to project sites outside Kampala.
• Proficiency with MS Windows and MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Excellent observation, active‑listening, and analytical skills with sound judgment.
• Good relationship‑management abilities and attention to detail.
• Proactive, results‑oriented, and service‑focused attitude.
