Public Relations & Membership Officer

About the role

The Public Relations & Membership Officer will manage the Uganda Insurers Association’s image, communications, and member relations. This role ensures consistent branding, effective stakeholder engagement, and a strong community among member companies.

Key responsibilities

• Write and edit press releases, newsletters, website and social media content to secure positive media coverage.
• Develop and execute branding strategies that reinforce a positive brand image across all channels.
• Manage the PR budget, allocating resources for campaigns and activities.
• Design and implement crisis communication plans to protect the association’s reputation.
• Liaise with media outlets and creative agencies to coordinate integrated marketing campaigns.
• Measure PR effectiveness using metrics such as media coverage, sentiment analysis, and audience engagement.
• Supervise the Public Relations Agency and ensure timely delivery of reports and campaigns.
• Develop a member value proposition, manage member relationships, and coordinate member‑related events and quarterly publications.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of experience in public relations, corporate communications, or media relations.
• Proven ability to write press releases, articles, and other communication materials.
• Experience organizing corporate events and managing stakeholder relationships.
• Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing or a related field; professional certifications (CIM, CIPR) are an advantage.
