Regional Research & Learning Coordinator for PlayMatters

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking a Regional Research and Learning Coordinator to support the PlayMatters 3.0 education initiative across Ethiopia, South Sudan, and Uganda. The role will work closely with the regional research team to design, implement, and disseminate evidence that informs the programme’s learning, monitoring, evaluation and impact strategies.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage research activities across the three target countries, ensuring alignment with PlayMatters objectives.
• Design study protocols, data collection tools, and monitoring frameworks in partnership with MEL teams.
• Oversee data storage, quality assurance, and analysis processes, producing timely reports and learning briefs.
• Facilitate the dissemination of findings to internal stakeholders, partners, and external audiences.
• Support the regional MEL teams in integrating research insights into programme adaptation and decision‑making.
• Maintain compliance with IRC research standards, ethical guidelines, and donor requirements.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in social sciences, education, public health, or a related field.
• Proven experience conducting research and evaluation in humanitarian or crisis‑affected settings.
• Strong analytical, writing, and presentation skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively across multiple countries and with diverse partners.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of local languages is a plus.
