Regional Senior Research Officer – East & Southeast Africa (Kampala)

About the role

IMPACT Initiatives is seeking a Regional Senior Research Officer to lead research quality assurance for its East and Southeast Africa portfolio. Based in Kampala, Uganda, the role will support country teams in delivering rigorous, credible evidence while ensuring compliance with IMPACT’s research standards.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the HQ Research Quality Assurance focal point for East and Southeast Africa, providing day‑to‑day technical guidance to country teams.
• Implement quality control processes and ensure proper documentation of all research outputs.
• Support the transition to decentralized quality assurance, including the development of reviewer tools and training materials.
• Provide peer‑review, technical back‑stopping, and learning support across all stages of the research implementation cycle.
• Occasionally travel to country offices to work directly with teams as needed.

Required profile

• Experience supporting research implementation and quality assurance in East and Southeast Africa.
• Ability to provide technical guidance, back‑stopping, and capacity‑strengthening support.
• Willingness to travel occasionally to regional country offices.
