Safety and Safeguarding Officer (Kampala, Uganda)

About the role

The Safety and Safeguarding Officer will lead the implementation of CorpsAfrica Uganda’s safeguarding, protection, and security frameworks. Reporting to the Country Director, the role ensures the safety, dignity, and well‑being of volunteers, staff, and community members. It combines proactive risk management, compliance with national and donor standards, and capacity building across program levels.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and monitor safeguarding policies, conduct risk assessments, and train staff and volunteers on child protection and ethical conduct.
• Maintain confidential case files, follow incident reporting protocols, and coordinate referrals to medical, psychosocial, and legal services.
• Design and maintain security protocols, contingency plans, and incident‑response procedures for office and field operations.
• Conduct regular security risk assessments, monitor local security contexts, and provide timely updates to staff and volunteers.
• Liaise with OPM, UNHCR, district authorities and security agencies to ensure compliance with national safety standards.
• Prepare and submit regular safeguarding and security reports to the Global Safeguarding Lead and donors.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Rights, Human Resources or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in safeguarding, protection or security management within humanitarian or development settings.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of Google Workspace applications.
• Experience with Salesforce.
• Proficiency in Canva for creating training and communication materials.
