Senior Associate, Finance

About the role

GAIN is looking for a Senior Associate, Finance to lead the day‑to‑day finance operations of its Country Office in Kampala. Reporting to the Country Director and working closely with the global finance team, the role ensures accurate financial processing, strong budget control, timely donor reporting and full compliance with organisational and statutory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Liaise with the global finance team on all financial management, reporting, compliance and control matters.
• Process payments, ensuring supporting documentation is complete, accurate and compliant with policies and donor requirements.
• Maintain accurate financial records, including ledgers, reconciliations and filing systems in line with audit standards.
• Process payroll and statutory payments in coordination with global finance and HR, complying with local legislation.
• Coordinate legal and statutory compliance with the global Legal Team and local counsel.
• Ensure the Country Office meets all statutory filing, registration and regulatory submission requirements.
• Act as the focal point for HR administration, supporting onboarding, staff exits and personnel processes.
• Support payroll preparation together with global HR and Finance teams.

Required profile

• Technically strong to manage the finance function independently.
• Procedurally and operationally aware to provide finance business partnering to programme teams.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work under tight reporting deadlines.
• Strong communication skills to liaise with global teams, donors and local authorities.
