Senior Associate, Finance

About the role

GAIN is looking for a Senior Associate, Finance to lead the day‑to‑day finance operations of its Country Office in Kampala. Reporting to the Country Director and working closely with the global finance team, the role ensures accurate financial processing, strong budget control, timely donor reporting and compliance with organisational and statutory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate all financial management activities with the global finance team, including reporting, compliance and internal controls.
• Process payments, maintain supporting documentation and ensure adherence to donor and organisational policies.
• Maintain accurate ledgers, reconciliations and filing systems in line with audit standards.
• Prepare and process payroll and statutory payments in partnership with global finance and HR, complying with Ugandan legislation.
• Act as the focal point for HR administration, onboarding, staff exits and personnel processes.
• Liaise with the global legal team and local counsel on statutory and legal compliance matters.
• Ensure timely completion of annual filings, registrations and regulatory submissions for the Country Office.

Required profile

• Proven ability to manage a full spectrum of finance functions independently.
• Strong analytical mindset with experience in budget analysis, forecasting and donor reporting.
• Excellent coordination skills and the confidence to partner with programme teams and senior management.
• High integrity, accuracy and ownership of financial processes.
