Senior Finance Officer

About the role

The client is a reputable banking institution in Uganda seeking a Senior Finance Officer to join its Human Capital & Recruitment Department. This full‑time position reports to the Head of Finance / Chief Finance Officer and will play a key role in delivering accurate financial reporting and supporting treasury and audit functions.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
• Manage the General Ledger and oversee month‑end and year‑end closing processes.
• Handle regulatory and statutory reporting requirements.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and management reporting activities.
• Review reconciliations and strengthen internal controls.
• Support treasury, liquidity management and audit functions.
• Supervise and mentor members of the finance team.

Required profile

• Professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA, CIMA or equivalent.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field.
• Minimum three years of banking finance or accounting experience.
• At least two years in a senior or supervisory finance role.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and financial reporting standards.
• Experience with banking regulatory reporting and reconciliations.

• Power BI
• Familiarity with AAOIFI standards (advantageous)
