Senior Livelihoods & Climate Programming Specialist

About the role

The Senior Livelihoods and Climate Programming Specialist will lead the design, implementation and evaluation of programmes that address child poverty in Uganda. Leveraging deep contextual knowledge and technical expertise, the role will shape strategies across emergency and development interventions while fostering strong partnerships with local organisations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and oversee strategic plans for livelihoods and climate‑adaptive programming aligned with the Uganda Country Strategic Plan.
• Design high‑quality technical solutions and lead their implementation in both emergency and development contexts.
• Support national advocacy efforts and influence policy to advance child‑focused outcomes.
• Build capacity of local partners, ensuring ownership and sustainability of programmes.
• Establish and manage monitoring and evaluation systems to track impact and disseminate learning.
• Represent the organisation externally on priority issues and cultivate new business opportunities.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in livelihoods, climate‑adaptation or related development programming.
• Proven ability to design and manage complex programmes in humanitarian and development settings.
• Strong track record of partnership building and capacity strengthening with local organisations.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills for advocacy and reporting.
