Senior Programme Officer – ITC Team Lead for Trade for Jobs Uganda

About the role

The International Trade Centre (ITC) is seeking a Senior Programme Officer to lead the ITC team for the Trade for Jobs Uganda project. This five‑year initiative, co‑led with the International Labour Organization and funded by Sida, aims to create decent jobs and increase incomes for women and men living in poverty by strengthening the dairy and tourism sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Provide managerial and technical oversight for the implementation of Trade for Jobs activities in Uganda.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate programme components, monitoring progress against targets.
• Coordinate with the Chief of SEC, the Project Coordinator in Geneva, and other partners to ensure alignment with project objectives.
• Analyse market systems, identify bottlenecks, and propose evidence‑based adaptations.
• Facilitate engagement with Swedish companies and other private‑sector stakeholders.
• Prepare and review reports, documentation, and communication materials for internal and external audiences.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in international development, trade, economics, or a related field.
• Extensive experience in programme management, preferably in trade‑related or SME development projects.
• Proven ability to work in a multi‑partner environment and manage cross‑functional teams.
• Strong analytical skills with a focus on market‑systems approaches.
• Excellent communication skills in English; knowledge of local languages is an asset.
