Senior Specialist Livelihoods & Climate Programming

About the role

Save the Children International is seeking a Senior Specialist to lead livelihoods and climate‑adaptive programming in Uganda. The role combines strategic design, technical implementation and advocacy to reduce child poverty across emergency and development contexts.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for the child‑poverty portfolio, shaping strategy for livelihoods, climate‑adaptive programming and social protection.
• Design, implement and monitor high‑quality programmes that meet donor requirements, national policies and rights‑based standards.
• Build capacity of national staff and partners through training, mentorship and coaching.
• Support national advocacy, influence policy and develop strategic partnerships for business development.
• Oversee monitoring and evaluation systems, capture impact data and share learning across teams and partners.
• Represent Save the Children on priority issues defined in the Uganda Country Strategic Plan.

Required profile

• Deep contextual understanding of Uganda’s livelihood and climate challenges.
• Proven experience in designing and delivering large‑scale programmes in both emergency and development settings.
• Strong relationship‑building and partnership skills.
• Ability to adapt working hours during major humanitarian emergencies.
