SME Relationship Manager – Banking

About the role

The SME Relationship Manager will promote the bank’s products and nurture client relationships through a proactive, consultative approach. The role focuses on acquiring profitable new SME customers, retaining existing accounts, and ensuring high‑quality loan portfolios that support the bank’s mission and vision.

Key responsibilities

• Acquire new SME clients to meet defined sales targets for both liabilities and assets.
• Identify growth opportunities within the existing portfolio and deepen customer relationships.
• Manage assigned credit portfolios, monitoring credit quality and ensuring zero non‑performing loans.
• Review and verify client documentation in line with credit risk procedures before recommendation.
• Market the bank’s products across all Ugandan sectors, aligning with the bank’s strategic objectives.
• Conduct regular customer visits (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly) and prepare call reports.
• Prepare weekly activity reports for the line manager.
• Initiate recovery actions on any non‑performing loans within the portfolio.
• Maintain a comprehensive database of relationships and prospects, ensuring compliance with bank policies.
• Recommend adjustments to meet targets and customer expectations.
• Attend weekly business meetings punctually.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline; a banking‑related professional qualification (e.g., MBA) is an advantage.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a similar banking role.
