Technical Engineer - Solar Power and Solar Water Pumps

About the role

The Technical Engineer will lead the design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of solar photovoltaic and solar water pumping systems for Renewable Uganda Limited. You will work directly with customers, suppliers and internal teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time and to high quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct site assessments and technical surveys to define customer requirements.
• Design and size solar PV and solar water pumping systems, preparing bills of materials and quotations.
• Install, wire, test and commission complete solar power and pumping installations.
• Supervise and coordinate installation teams, ensuring safety and timeline adherence.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair and maintain electrical, mechanical, inverter, battery and pump components.
• Perform preventive maintenance and routine inspections on existing installations.
• Prepare technical reports, site assessment reports, installation and maintenance documentation.
• Provide technical support to the sales department and train customers on system operation and basic maintenance.
• Manage tools, equipment, spare parts and ensure compliance with company standards and health & safety procedures.

Required profile

• Mid‑level engineering professional with at least 5 years of experience in solar power and solar water pumping projects.
• Proven ability to lead technical teams and manage on‑site installations.
• Strong communication skills for customer interaction and internal coordination.
