Accountant – Finance Department

About the role

INSTAREMIT Ltd is looking for a detail‑oriented Accountant to join its Finance Department in Kampala. You will be responsible for partner account reconciliations, transaction postings, intercompany accounting, and supporting month‑end financial reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Reconcile inbound partner accounts in QuickBooks and match balances against system records.
• Post partner transactions, prepare journals and supporting schedules, and ensure accurate classification of entries.
• Maintain bank, petty‑cash, and pre‑payment accounts, and record intercompany transactions.
• Perform financial control checks, including balance reviews, double‑entry validations, and reversal checks.
• Identify and resolve reconciliation variances and other discrepancies promptly.
• Support month‑end reporting and any special assignments from the Head of Finance or CEO.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or related field.
• 2–3 years of experience in accounting, finance, or reconciliation.
• CPA(U) Level II or higher.
• Experience in a bank, money‑transfer operator, foreign‑exchange bureau or other regulated financial institution.

Required skills

• Proficiency in QuickBooks.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
