Afternoon Supervisor – Facility Services

About the role

The Afternoon Supervisor, Facility Services ensures clean, safe and healthy environments across 110 school facilities during the afternoon shift (3:00 pm – 11:00 pm). Reporting to the Manager, Facility Services, the role starts on 4 September 2026 and works 35 hours per week on a permanent basis.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise CUPE custodial staff daily from 3 pm to 11 pm and provide coverage for urgent situations at other schools.
• Manage scheduling, attendance, and absence for approximately 30 full‑time equivalents, coordinating with day‑shift supervisors for long‑term staffing forecasts.
• Implement HDSB cleaning standards, oversee maintenance requests, and ensure compliance with safety and health KPIs.
• Handle facility crises, budget allocations, and corrective actions in a timely manner.
• Liaise with community rental groups to guarantee proper and safe use of school spaces.
• Conduct performance evaluations, initiate training, and administer disciplinary actions as needed.

Required profile

• Senior‑level experience (minimum 5 years) in facility or custodial management.
• Proven ability to lead unionized and non‑unionized staff.
• Strong organizational and problem‑solving skills, with a focus on health‑and‑safety standards.
• Excellent communication for staff counseling and customer relations.
