Agriculture Teacher

About the role

The school seeks a dedicated Agriculture Teacher to deliver both theoretical and practical agricultural education to secondary students. The role involves planning lessons, supervising farm activities, and preparing learners for national examinations.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver agriculture lessons aligned with the national secondary curriculum.
• Develop schemes of work, lesson plans, assessment schedules and mark tests, assignments and examinations.
• Supervise practical sessions on the school farm, garden or demonstration plots, guiding hands‑on activities such as planting, animal rearing and irrigation.
• Maintain the school farm as a teaching resource, ensuring safe use and proper storage of tools, equipment and inputs.
• Mentor students interested in agriculture careers, support clubs, competitions and community outreach.
• Prepare and manage budgets for farm inputs, keep accurate production and inventory records, and explore income‑generating opportunities.
• Collaborate with the Director of Studies and fellow teachers to align academic plans.

Required profile

• Mid‑level qualification with at least 24 months of relevant teaching experience.
• Ability to track learner performance, identify gaps and provide remedial support.
• Strong knowledge of crop science, animal husbandry, soil science, agri‑business and farm management.
• Commitment to health and safety standards during practical activities.
