AIOps Lead

About the role

M‑KOPA is building its first AIOps team to design, ship, and scale production‑grade automations and AI agents across the organisation. As the AIOps Lead you will own the delivery of these solutions, grow the function from day one, and demonstrate measurable impact for over 2,500 employees in multiple African markets.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a team of three AI Ops Engineers, overseeing their delivery, development, and day‑to‑day work.
• Prioritise competing requests from internal teams using a clear prioritisation framework.
• Design and ship multi‑agent systems and production‑grade automations that improve internal and customer‑facing workflows.
• Build Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines for internal knowledge retrieval, grounding agents in organisational context.
• Maintain the health and scalability of the AI tooling stack as usage expands across the company.
• Stay current on emerging AI tools and technologies, distinguishing hype from practical value.
• Help refine AI training programmes for software engineering and broader organisational teams.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading AI or automation teams in a fast‑growing environment.
• Hands‑on expertise with AI agents and production‑grade deployment.
• Ability to work closely with internal stakeholders and act as a consultant for software engineering teams.
• Strong prioritisation and decision‑making skills in a multi‑team setting.
