Associate Research Manager – HAPT (Ethiopia) – Kampala

About the role

IMPACT Initiatives is seeking an Associate Research Manager – HAPT to lead research cycles focused on Ethiopia while based in Kampala. The role involves coordinating data collection, analysis and dissemination in a complex humanitarian context, with frequent travel to Addis Ababa.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute research cycles, including preparation, field data collection, analysis and reporting.
• Engage and coordinate with local partners, NGOs and authorities to ensure participation and data quality.
• Supervise assessment teams and manage resources efficiently throughout the project.
• Prepare and present findings to stakeholders and contribute to strategic recommendations.
• Monitor and evaluate the impact of research outputs on programme interventions.

Required profile

• Relevant academic background in social sciences, development studies, geography or related field.
• Experience working in humanitarian or development research, preferably in the Horn of Africa.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks and travel regularly.
• Strong communication skills in English; knowledge of local languages is an asset.
