AVID School Coordinator – Junior High (2026‑27)

About the role

The AVID School Coordinator supports AVID implementation on the secondary campus, focusing on junior‑high students for the 2026‑27 academic year.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in developing a vertically aligned AVID elective curriculum and ensure consistent tutorial practices across classrooms.
• Collaborate with classroom and AVID elective teachers to deliver rigorous instruction and maintain a college‑ready culture.
• Utilize AVID data and certification documents to monitor progress, facilitate monthly site‑team meetings, and improve implementation.
• Create an annual AVID site budget, process monthly tutor payment authorizations, and integrate AVID into the school improvement plan.
• Coordinate student recruitment, enrollment, college‑testing participation, and plan AVID college visits and field trips.
• Plan and run parent/community workshops, maintain communication with district AVID sites, feeder schools, the AVID Center, and the district director.
• Ensure AVID teachers and staff attend required summer institutes or Path trainings and deliver campus‑based professional learning.
• Monitor and coach AVID tutors to sustain effective tutorials and perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
• Valid Texas teaching certificate with appropriate endorsements for subject and level.
• Minimum three years of successful teaching experience.
• Prior experience as an AVID teacher is preferred.
