Catering Manager

About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and organised Catering Manager to lead the in‑house catering service at Hillcrest Academy. You will be responsible for delivering a high‑quality, nutritious and welcoming dining experience for students, staff and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the academy kitchen and dining facilities, ensuring food quality, hygiene and safety standards.
• Lead, motivate and develop a small catering team in collaboration with the Trust Catering Manager.
• Manage food production, service, stock control, ordering and budget monitoring.
• Ensure compliance with food safety legislation, HACCP principles and trust policies.
• Promote healthy eating and create an environment where safe, nutritious meals are enjoyed daily.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a busy catering or kitchen environment, preferably within a school or education setting.
• Strong organisational, time‑management and leadership abilities.
• Commitment to the highest standards of food hygiene, safety and cleanliness.
• Positive, reliable and flexible approach to work.

Required skills

• Knowledge of food safety regulations, hygiene standards and HACCP principles.
• Experience of stock control, ordering and budget monitoring.
• Level 2 Food Safety or Food Hygiene Certificate (willingness to achieve Level 3 if not held).
