Child Protection Coordinator

About the role

The Child Protection Coordinator will provide technical leadership and strategic oversight for Save the Children’s child protection programme in Kasese, Uganda. This role ensures high‑quality implementation, influences policy, and builds strong partnerships at the district level.

Key responsibilities

• Lead overall project planning, implementation and performance across policy, advocacy, behaviour change, protection systems and livelihoods.
• Engage with government bodies, parliament, UN agencies and donors to drive policy dialogue and advocacy.
• Manage high‑level relationships with district officials, private‑sector coffee actors, CSOs and coordinate multi‑stakeholder platforms.
• Ensure quality of case‑management systems, referral pathways, community structures and safeguarding practices.
• Supervise project officers and field teams, providing coaching, performance management and capacity‑building.
• Oversee monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning, ensuring robust data collection and adaptive management.
• Lead risk management, safeguarding and “do no harm” approaches.

Required profile

• Proven experience in child protection coordination, policy advocacy and stakeholder engagement.
• Demonstrated ability to lead multi‑disciplinary teams and manage complex programmes.
• Strong understanding of national child labour frameworks and child protection standards.
