Commercial Kitchen Equipment Technician

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Kitchen Equipment Technician to join our team in Kampala. The role involves repairing, troubleshooting and maintaining a wide range of commercial kitchen appliances for hotels, restaurants and central kitchens.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair and maintain fryers, ovens, grills, salamanders, holding cabinets, coffee machines and other kitchen equipment.
• Troubleshoot gas‑operated appliances, including valves, burners, ignition systems, thermostats and temperature controls.
• Carry out preventive maintenance and scheduled servicing.
• Install, test and commission new kitchen equipment.
• Maintain accurate service records and recommend corrective actions for recurring issues.
• Ensure all work complies with electrical and gas safety standards.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience with commercial kitchen equipment maintenance.
• Strong expertise in gas‑operated kitchen appliances.
• Proven ability to diagnose and resolve technical problems quickly.

Required skills

• Repair and maintenance of commercial fryers, ovens, grills, salamanders and holding cabinets.
• Gas valve, burner, ignition system, thermostat and temperature control troubleshooting.
• Preventive maintenance planning and execution.
• Installation, testing and commissioning of kitchen equipment.
• Service record management and corrective action reporting.
• Compliance with electrical and gas safety regulations.
• Experience with Henny Penny fryers, Rational ovens, Lincoln ovens and Nuova Simonelli coffee machines.
