Commissioning Manager – Pre‑commissioning & Start‑up

About the role

The Commissioning Manager reports to the Project Director and leads the planning and execution of pre‑commissioning, commissioning, start‑up and performance testing for an oil & gas project in East Africa. This onsite, rotational assignment also covers initial operations, maintenance and hand‑over of the Central Processing Facility.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the Commissioning Execution Plan to meet project objectives.
• Coordinate with Project Management, Engineering, Construction, Quality, Safety, Completions and the Client.
• Manage manpower, subcontractors and vendor personnel required for commissioning activities.
• Review and track pre‑commissioning, commissioning, start‑up and project completion schedules.
• Monitor the commissioning budget and ensure cost‑effective execution.
• Direct pre‑commissioning, start‑up, initial operations, shutdown and emergency procedures on site.
• Identify and manage supplier servicemen for plant equipment commissioning.
• Participate in project risk reviews and advise on impacts to commissioning plans.

Required profile

• Proven experience in commissioning, start‑up and performance testing on large oil & gas projects.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage subcontractor and client personnel.
• Familiarity with project risk management and schedule control.
