Communications Intern

About the role

The Communications Intern will support DRC Uganda’s efforts to raise awareness of its programmes by creating and sharing high‑quality communication materials. Working closely with programme teams, the intern will help ensure that all outputs meet organisational, donor and ethical standards.

Key responsibilities

• Support the implementation of the Communications and Visibility plan for the Country‑Based Pool Fund (CBPF) project.
• Coordinate with field communication focal points to obtain timely approval and publish quality content on relevant channels.
• Liaise with the headquarters communications team to ensure regular publication on DRC platforms.
• Edit, standardise and produce communication products, ensuring vendor‑provided materials display correct DRC, partner and donor logos.
• Identify communications and visibility needs and coordinate dissemination with programme and country staff.
• Assist in organising training for staff on communication and visibility practices.
• Ensure proper use of consent forms and maintain filing of communication and visibility products.
• Update country fact sheets, newsletters and profile documents.
• Support visibility activities for international commemorations.
• Perform other duties as assigned, including support to the Quality Assurance Unit.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in a university degree programme in Mass Communication, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, Media Studies or a related field.
• Basic experience in communications.
• Excellent writing, editing and communication skills in English.
• Strong computer and digital skills with experience managing social‑media platforms.
• Ability to support training sessions and work under competing priorities and tight deadlines.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Canva.
• Proficiency with Adobe (e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator).
