Counselor – HIV/AIDS Pre- and Post-Test Support

About the role

RHSP is looking for qualified Counselors to deliver comprehensive pre‑test and post‑test counseling, as well as ongoing psychosocial support, to clients, patients, study participants, and community members. The role is pivotal in ensuring accurate communication of HIV results and fostering a supportive environment for health education.

Key responsibilities

• Provide pre‑test and post‑test counseling and continuous psychosocial support.
• Communicate HIV test results clearly and compassionately.
• Deliver HIV/AIDS and general health education to individuals and groups.
• Support clients in HIV disclosure and promote couple counseling and partner notification.
• Prepare detailed counseling activity reports and collect bio‑behavioral health data.
• Participate in regular counseling meetings and multidisciplinary discussions.

Required profile

• Relevant counseling qualifications (e.g., diploma or degree in counseling, psychology, social work).
• Substantial experience in counseling, preferably with HIV/AIDS or within a medical setting.
• Fluency in English and Luganda.
• Valid motorcycle riding permit and ability to travel to community sites.
