Country Director - Uganda

About the role

The Country Director is MSI’s most senior representative in Uganda, responsible for leading the organisation’s strategy, operations and results. Reporting to regional leadership, the role works closely with government, donors and partners to expand access to safe, affordable family planning and sexual and reproductive health services.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the national strategy for family planning, SRH services and social marketing.
• Lead programme delivery through mobile outreach, public‑sector strengthening, maternity services and health centres.
• Oversee financial planning, budgeting, reporting and compliance with donor requirements.
• Manage operational functions including HR, procurement, logistics and administration.
• Represent MSI in high‑level stakeholder engagements, advocacy and partnership negotiations.
• Drive innovation, results‑based management and continuous improvement across all programmes.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of senior leadership experience in the health, NGO or development sector.
• Proven track record of managing large, multi‑disciplinary teams and complex budgets.
• Strong understanding of Uganda’s health system, policy environment and donor landscape.
• Demonstrated commitment to pro‑choice values and MSI’s mission.
