Credit Officer

About the role

SunCulture is seeking a Credit Officer to manage the end‑to‑end credit process, from assessments to collections and debt recovery. The role involves both remote (call‑center) and on‑site activities to ensure timely repayment, minimise bad debt and maintain positive customer relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct on‑ground credit assessments for new customers through visits or phone due diligence.
• Contact customers with overdue payments via calls, SMS and field visits to negotiate repayment plans.
• Visit customer homes or businesses to follow up on delinquent accounts, verify information and conduct on‑site assessments.
• Communicate account status, payment options and consequences of non‑payment clearly.
• Handle inquiries, complaints and disputes related to payments, ensuring timely resolution.
• Negotiate structured payment plans in line with company policies and monitor adherence.
• Manage repossession processes and coordinate with internal stakeholders when required.
• Escalate high‑risk or non‑responsive accounts for legal review.
• Maintain accurate records in the CRM or collections system and prepare routine performance reports.
• Analyse delinquency patterns and recommend strategies to reduce default rates.
• Collaborate with credit analysis, sales, customer service and legal teams to address root causes of delinquency.

Required profile

• Experience in credit assessment, collections or debt recovery.
• Ability to conduct field visits and verify customer information on site.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills for handling overdue accounts.
• Attention to detail for accurate record‑keeping and reporting.
• Capability to work both remotely (call centre) and in the field.
