Driver – National (Uganda)

About the role

Save the Children Uganda is seeking a reliable Driver to transport staff, goods, and documents safely across the country. The role supports routine operations and may assist the emergency team during humanitarian crises.

Key responsibilities

• Drive Save the Children vehicles to collect and deliver people, documents, and goods to their destinations safely and on time.
• Perform daily vehicle checks (oil, water, brake fluid, etc.) and ensure mechanical maintenance is up to date.
• Maintain accurate mileage logs and submit monthly vehicle reports.
• Ensure vehicle insurance, road licence, and safety equipment are valid and in good condition.
• Report any accidents or vehicle defects promptly to the supervisor.

Required profile

• Minimum O‑Level (UCE) qualification.
• Certificate in Automotive Mechanics (2‑year course).
• At least five years of relevant driving experience, preferably with an international NGO.
• Valid Class B, D1, and D driving licences held for a minimum of three years.
• Proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking) and willingness to travel to field locations.
