Electrician (Part-Time, Fixed-Term)

About the role

CURE Children's Hospital of Uganda, a private non-profit Christian hospital specializing in pediatric neurosurgery, is looking for an experienced electrician for a part-time, fixed-term position in its Operations-Maintenance department in Mbale. The role reports to the Facilities and Construction Projects Supervisor and covers inspection, installation, maintenance and repair of electrical appliances, systems, facilities and related controls. It is on-site, with rare travel.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain and repair electrical wiring, controls, equipment, fixtures and lighting, and coordinate third-party contractors and service providers.
• Perform scheduled inspections and maintenance of transformers, panels, circuit breakers, battery systems, generators and UPS systems, and troubleshoot faults with test equipment.
• Assist biomedical personnel with medical equipment maintenance and help users understand electrical systems.
• Maintain tools and equipment, keep electrical systems safe and compliant with the national electrical code, SAFECARE quality standards and H&S policies.
• Use the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to track work, manage inventory and complete maintenance logs and reports.
• Take part in department meetings, spiritual ministry programs and continuing professional development.

Required profile

• Diploma in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
• 5 or more years of work experience.
• Experience in a hospital or clinical setting preferred.
• Good command of English and local languages.

Required skills

• Knowledge of energy systems, including utility supplies, generators and solar systems.
• Knowledge of electrical procedures and safety rules.
• Computer literacy, including Microsoft Word and Excel; CMMS experience preferred.
