Field Officer - Health Systems Strengthening Project

About the role

Catholic Relief Services (CRS) is hiring three Field Officers for the Central, East and West regions of Uganda for an anticipated five-year health systems strengthening project. The project supports the sustainability and resilience of faith-based health services through stronger institutional capacity, better community health financing, improved governance and locally led solutions. The post reports to the Program Manager I - Community Based Health Insurance and is open to Ugandan nationals only; applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and are contingent on the project's award.

Key responsibilities

• Support coordination and monitoring of project activities at field level so that implementation schedules and quality standards are met.
• Facilitate information sharing among the project team, implementing partners and community participants, and help strengthen community support networks.
• Implement project activities at community, facility, diocesan and district levels, including supervising, mentoring and monitoring Public Service Providers and other community implementers.
• Mobilize community leaders, representatives and local government officials and support capacity-building events for community representatives.
• Coordinate, monitor and report on volunteer activities, compile community data and contribute to project reports.
• Contribute to partner capacity strengthening through coaching, mentoring and follow-up.
• Ensure activities meet CRS quality standards, donor requirements and national guidelines.

Required profile

• High school diploma in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Social Work and Social Administration or a related field; additional education may substitute for some experience.
• 3-5 years of work or volunteer experience in community development and mobilization.
• Bachelor's degree is a plus.
• Fluency in English is required; knowledge of one or more local languages used in the project areas is highly desirable.
• No supervisory responsibilities.
