Field Service Engineer

About the role

Jaza, a solar‑energy start‑up powering communities across Sub‑Saharan Africa, is looking for a Field Service Engineer to ensure the reliability of its solar hubs. You will be responsible for maintaining high uptime of energy systems and supporting customers in the Kamwokya cluster.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain energy uptime of at least 99.9% across the assigned cluster.
• Troubleshoot and repair battery packs to keep defective packs below 2%.
• Monitor swap and PV performance metrics, escalating hubs with >80% issues.
• Test new products and firmware, and perform on‑site hub commissioning and sign‑off.
• Provide daily, weekly and monthly technical reports to the Regional Service Engineer and Coordinator.
• Develop weekly route plans, attend coordination meetings and ensure timely issue resolution.

Required profile

• Minimum 24 months (2 years) of experience in field service or technical support.
• Ability to travel regularly to remote hub locations.
• Strong analytical mindset for data collection and reporting.
