Finance Officer for Transforming Vegetable Markets Programme

About the role

The Finance Officer will execute core operational finance activities supporting the Transforming Vegetable Markets (TVM) programme in Uganda. The role ensures accurate, timely, and compliant financial processing, local statutory compliance, basic reporting, and audit support in line with global EWS‑KT policies.

Key responsibilities

• Process payments, review invoices, verify expenses, manage petty cash and perform bank reconciliations for TVM activities.
• Coordinate routine bookkeeping, manage employee travel advances, and support the monthly close process.
• Maintain transaction records and documentation to meet donor requirements and organisational regulations.
• Handle statutory filings, local payroll administration and tax documentation in accordance with Ugandan law.
• Prepare and submit monthly financial reports, budget tracking information and donor expense documentation.
• Gather audit documentation, support audit preparation and maintain audit‑ready files.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field.
• Typically 3 years of experience in operational finance, bookkeeping, reconciliations and basic reporting, preferably in NGOs or donor‑funded programmes.
• Working knowledge of Ugandan statutory, tax and payroll requirements.
• Ability to collaborate in a matrix and remote‑global environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Familiarity with accounting systems / ERP.
