Finance Officer

About the role

Finance Officer will implement sound financial management, manage day‑to‑day financial processes for DRC Uganda and ensure compliance with the Operations Handbook, donor regulations and statutory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with DRC’s Operations Handbook, donor regulations and statutory requirements.
• Provide advice, coordination and technical support to field finance teams.
• Work with Project Managers on budget performance, variances, reporting and corrective actions.
• Monitor funding levels, operational support and administration expenses.
• Reconcile and clear balance‑sheet items monthly (advances, receivables, payables, intercompany balances).
• File and pay statutory obligations (PAYE, withholding tax, VAT, NSSF, etc.) on time.
• Collect, review and verify financial reports from sub‑grant partners for accuracy and eligibility.
• Build partner capacity on financial and grant management policies.
• Conduct financial monitoring visits and spot checks on sub‑grant partners.
• Ensure accurate data entry in DRC Dynamics and maintain finance ledger.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Commerce or related field.
• Minimum 3 years progressive finance experience with international NGOs.
• Strong knowledge of donor financial management and compliance with major donors (e.g., DANIDA, UNHCR, UNICEF, EU, etc.).
• Proven experience working with national partners and local authorities.
• Excellent analytical, planning and organizational skills.
• Ability to work in multicultural, cross‑functional teams.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP systems, preferably Microsoft Dynamics 365.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel.
• Standard computer applications.
