Finance Officer

About the role

The Finance Officer will support the Transforming Vegetable Markets (TVM) programme in Uganda, ensuring accurate and timely financial processing, compliance with local regulations, and effective reporting to meet donor and organisational requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Process payments, review invoices, manage petty cash and perform bank reconciliations for TVM activities.
• Coordinate bookkeeping, handle employee travel advances, and support the monthly close process.
• Maintain transaction records and documentation to satisfy donor and regulatory standards.
• Oversee statutory filings, payroll administration and tax documentation in line with Ugandan law.
• Prepare monthly financial reports, budget tracking and donor expense documentation.
• Gather audit evidence, support audit preparation and maintain audit‑ready files.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field.
• At least 3 years of operational finance experience, preferably in NGOs or donor‑funded agricultural programmes.
• Knowledge of Ugandan statutory, tax and payroll requirements.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate in a matrixed, remote‑global environment.
